Who we are

What we collect and why
When you ask for a free preview we collect your name, your business name, your phone number or email, and anything else you choose to tell us, such as your town, current website and what you do. If you contact us another way, we keep what you tell us.
We use this only to build your preview, reply to you and, if you go ahead, build and look after your website. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and on taking steps you've asked for before entering into a contract.
Businesses we contact first
Sometimes we notice a local business, for example from its van or a sign, and build it a preview website before getting in touch. To do that we use publicly available information about the business: its name, trade, town, contact details, reviews, website and social media pages, and, for limited companies, directors' names from Companies House. Photos we take in public are edited to remove location data and to blur faces, number plates and other companies' signs.
We rely on our legitimate interest in offering a relevant service to local businesses. We send personal messages, not bulk marketing, and we'll stop straight away if you ask. Preview sites are hidden from search engines. If a business isn't interested, we take its preview down and delete its details within 12 months.
We don't sell your details, use them for marketing without asking, or make automated decisions about you.
Who handles it for us
These services handle your information on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it safe:
- Cloudflare hosts this website, handles the enquiry form and checks it for spam (Turnstile, which sets no cookies). Data may be held in the UK, EU and US, under UK data transfer safeguards.
- SiteGround hosts our email inbox, where enquiries arrive. Data may be held in the UK (London).
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for 12 months and then delete them, unless you become a customer, in which case we keep your records for as long as we need them for accounts and to look after your website.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also object to how we use it. Just contact us using the details above. We'll reply within one month.
Cookies and statistics
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, and doesn't follow you around other websites.
We don't collect any visitor statistics.
The site doesn't load maps, videos or social media posts from other companies unless you choose to open them.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've used your information, please tell us first using the details above. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know what we're doing about it.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator:ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
